Summer Vacation: Why We Love Universal Resorts
As summer approaches, deciding on the perfect family getaway can feel overwhelming. This month, we’re highlighting Universal Studios - a destination where you don’t just watch the stories; you step inside them. From the cobblestone streets of Diagon Alley and the prehistoric jungles of Jurassic Park. It’s a rare destination that hits the sweet spot for everyone, offering world-class thrills for the teenagers and immersive, nostalgic magic for the adults.
It can be a lot to plan with the number of parks, different ticket options, and bundling options. We help you navigate the complexities, so you can have an amazing experience. While there are parks globally, we’re focusing on the two main U.S. hubs: Hollywood and Orlando. Here is the breakdown to help you choose the right coast for your family.
Universal Studios Hollywood
Built directly into a historic, working movie lot, this park offers a "behind-the-scenes" charm you won’t find anywhere else. You’ll encounter active film sets on the Studio Tour alongside high-tech worlds like Super Nintendo World and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Pros:
Perfect for a shorter, less complicated west coast trip. Everything is in one park, so you don't need a multi-park ticket.
It is built on an actual film set, so it has a historical aspect if that is something you are interested in.
It’s also minutes away from the L.A. Zoo and Warner Bros. Studio Tour if you are looking to extend your vacation.
Cons:
Once you have done everything, there isn't a new park you can hop over to like there is in Orlando.
Harry Potter fans will find a smaller footprint here and no Hogwarts Express to ride.
While there are currently fewer thrill rides compared to Universal Orlando, the park still offers a great selection of attractions. However, this summer (2026), the park is debuting Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift—Universal’s first-ever high-speed outdoor coaster, featuring 360-degree spinning cars that simulate drifting at 72 mph.
Universal Orlando Resort
Orlando is a world-class "vacation bubble" spanning four distinct theme parks: Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and the groundbreaking Epic Universe (which opened in 2025). It’s the ultimate mix of family adventure and adrenaline-packed memories.
Pros:
The variety makes it easy to spend a whole week here and still feel like you want to come back.
It is a full resort experience when you stay on the property. They have buses and water taxis that will take you from your hotel to the parks. This can be so immersive, it feels like you are transported out of the “real world” for the duration of your stay.
For Wizarding World fans, the experience is unmatched, with lands across 3 different parks. Ride the Hogwarts Express between Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. As well as 6 exciting Wizarding World themed rides.
Cons:
The sheer scale of everything can be overwhelming without help to navigate the important details. Also, there will be lots of walking and you might need a “game plan” to see everything.
With all the exciting “worlds” there is so much to do. So it's better if you have several days to spend. One day is not enough time.
For a summer vacation, it can get very hot and humid in Florida, as well as some rain in the afternoons.
Let's talk planning: How We Plan Your Universal Trip
When we sit down to book your Universal vacation, we aren’t just looking for a hotel room and some park tickets; we’re looking to understand your family's needs and find the "sweet spot" where your budget meets the best possible experience. Whether you are looking for a one-day stop at Universal Hollywood or a week-long vacation at Universal Orlando, we do our best to make your vacation planning as smooth as possible. That way you can spend more time making memories with your family.
Here is exactly how we crunch the numbers for you:
1. Maximizing Your Time
While staying off-site might seem like a cost-saver, Universal Orlando’s on-property stays offer a range of options from budget-friendly to premium, ensuring a perfect fit for everyone. Even the most affordable ‘value’ properties are impressively themed and surprisingly high-quality, keeping you fully immersed in the ‘vacation bubble’. Best of all, regardless of their hotel tier, every guest staying gets Early Park Admission. This lets you into select parks an hour before the general public. This hour is when you ride the "big" rides (like Hagrid’s or the VelociCoaster) with lower wait times. By the time the crowds arrive, you’ve already checked off the heavy hitters.
2. The "Premier Hotel", Express Pass Hack
Universal’s Unlimited Express Passes can cost upwards of $200 per person, per day during busy seasons. If that is something you are interested in, we may recommend staying at a "Premier" hotel (like the Hard Rock or Royal Pacific). These rooms are more expensive, but they include Unlimited Express Passes for free for everyone in the room from the day you check in to the day you check out.
The Result for a family of 4: If the hotel room is $600 a night, but it’s saving you $800 a day in Express Passes, you aren't "spending more"—you’re actually getting a luxury hotel and your passes for less than the cost of the passes alone.
